Mr. Jamie Baker

After graduating with my Masters degree in 1988, Enterprise City Schools hired me to be their first full time Jr. High Choral Director.  From 1989-1993, I traveled to all three jr. highs teaching choral music.  In 1991, I started the Expressions showchoir.  In 1993, I accepted the position of Choral Director at Opelika High School, where I taught until the summer of 2001, when my first wife, Wendy, was killed in a car accident, leaving me with children who were 9, 6 and 5 years old.  I then surrendered to full ministry, serving as Worship Pastor at four different churches for the next 19 years. In February 2020, I decided to semi-retire and move my wife and son, Jonah, to Boquete, Panama, a country and people we had fallen in love with.  Three weeks after moving to the country, COVID-19 hit and the country shut down.  The peace and tranquility that we experienced there was tremendous, even being on lock downs.  In October of 2020, we got word that Enterprise was going back to school face to face.  We made the decision that our son's education was not worth sacrificing, so we moved back to Enterprise in December of 2020.  No job; no insurance. A choral position became open in February of 2021, so I became the Choral Director at Dauphin Jr. High School, ironically, where I began my teaching career in 1989.  In August 2021, three weeks into the school year, I became Director of Choirs at EHS.  I am married to Cynthia Baker and we have four children: Hannah Beth (30), Micah (27), John-Mark (26) and Jonah (14).  We also have two daughters in love: Mary Ryan Baker and Emily Harrelson Baker.
