Overview

Enterprise High School offers introductory through AP-level visual arts courses.  In addition to enrolling in visual arts courses, students have the opportunity to join the EHS Art Club to participate in art-related activities, community service, and Open Studio Tuesdays.  Advanced-level students who have enrolled in at least Visual Arts III and have a 3.0 unweighted GPA and an "A" average in all arts courses are invited to join the EHS Chapter of the National Art Honor Society in the late fall each year.  Please explore the links at left for more information.

EHS VISUAL ARTS COURSE LISTINGS

Visual Arts I (1 Credit) This is the foundational course for all other art classes at EHS. Emphasis is placed on the development of basic art skills and knowledge of the elements of art and the principles of design. Students will produce work using a variety of processes, techniques, and media. Areas of study include, but are not limited to, drawing, painting, and sculpture. The fee for this course is $16.

Visual Arts II (1 Credit) Visual Arts II is designed to address the needs of students with previous art experience. Art teacher approval is needed if currently enrolled at Dauphin Junior High School or Coppinville Junior High School. Current EHS students will need to speak with Ms. Henson to register. Students will continue to learn the visual language; explore new techniques, processes, and media; and study history, culture, aesthetics, and criticism. The fee for this course is $22.

Visual Arts III (1 Credit) Visual Arts III directs students toward skill proficiency and dynamics in individual expression, artistic presentation, and portfolio development. Students are able to communicate concepts and intentions through manipulation of subject matter, organizational components, media, and processes. Emphasis is placed on advanced skill development and visual problem-solving. A strong level of intrinsic motivation is expected.  The fee is $22.

AP Studio Art - Drawing (Year-long course) AP Studio Art - Drawing is a challenging, college-level visual arts course in which students will develop and demonstrate mastery of concept, composition, and execution of their personal ideas and themes in drawing and/or 2D design.   In this course, students develop a portfolio of work that demonstrates a range of approaches (breadth), sustained investigation of a concept through drawing (concentration), and quality of concept and execution. Emphasis will be placed on drawing techniques and issues that include drawing from observation, work with nonobjective forms, effective use of light and shade, line quality, surface manipulation, composition, rendering of forms, illusion of depth, and mark-making in a variety of media. The fee for this course is $100.

AP Studio Art - 2D Design (Year-long course) AP Studio Art – 2D Design is a challenging, college-level visual arts course in which students will develop and demonstrate mastery of concept, composition, and execution of their personal ideas in various media.   In this course, students develop a portfolio of work that demonstrates a range of approaches (breadth), sustained investigation of a concept through art making (concentration), and quality of concept and execution. Emphasis will be placed on application of the elements and principles of art in an integrative way. The fee for this course is $100.
